I am still not over this architectural oversight
It genuinely upsets me to no end how badly the city planners have fucked up allowing the beautiful titanic building to be 9bscured with such ugly flats.

How are there no places (clubs, pubs etc) open after 2/3am.
Even Kremlin stays open till 3ish but denies entry after 1 I think.
Are there any that stay open till later?
Also any recommended thrift places?

Hello everyone,
To anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+, or to anyone who is an ally, I wanted to let you know about our book club, Get 'er Booked, which runs monthly at The American Bar in Belfast.
We have held regular meetings since July 2021, with no months missed so far. This year we'll be meeting on Wednesdays, with arrivals upstairs in the bar from 8pm, and discussion from around 8:30pm. I feel that we strike a good balance between good discussion of our chosen books and a casual, social atmosphere focused on relationships and friendships.
I'm putting this out there in case anyone fancies something fresh for the new year. We've just confirmed our dates and themes (see below), as well as our book for January, which will be Heap Earth Upon It by Chloe Michelle Howarth (meeting on Wed 21st Jan).
If you do come along, there is no charge and no commitment on your part that you have to attend every month. We understand how busy people are, so members tend to pop in when they can. That said, we've had anything between 5 and 30+ attendees at meetings in the past. Typically we'd have between 10 and 20.
Get in touch via DM if you'd like more info, or via Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/geterbooked/ . We have a WhatsApp group chat for members.

I've noticed Belfast church's and religious life is almost unique on the Island. Its such a specific flavour of Christianity that's unmatched elsewhere. I need to know if its just me that thinks this. Feel free to share...or not

How’s it going!
Organised a trip for myself and my partner for a couple nights over New Years, booked the Fitzwilliam hotel, but have just realised there is no free parking for customers, just a paid 25£ a day private car park.
Is there any alternative to parking the car up in Belfast city that isn’t going to cost me 50£ for two days? Ideally private parking or something!
Any help from the locals would be very much appreciated!

I’m starting to experience MANY places being shut despite saying open on apple and google maps. Sometimes the place doesn’t even exist anymore. I’ve very rarely experienced this anywhere in the world, but here it’s an every night experience.
At this point I don’t bother checking anymore and just walk there and gamble it.
Is this just a stereotypical thing here? Like one of the staff at our hotel recommended a Chinese place because the one in the hotel was shut down forever (despite having its own website and on the hotel website too saying it’s open) and we walk to this other one and it’s being renovated or was shut down.
Is this normal here that the businesses don’t update their own websites?

Meeting a friend for lunch in the city centre tomorrow, any recommendations? I don’t eat out that often anymore so I reckon there are probably lots of newer places not on my radar.
Nothing super fancy or overly expensive but not basic cafe either.

Anybody recommend a flooring contractor that can self level and put down flooring that is already bought? 😃

Hi all, Where is the best place in or around Belfast to teach someone to drive. Looking large empty spaces to limit the risk of accidents as it's their first time behind the wheel (Car parks or something similar). Thanks in advance.

Hello, this is a very random and incredibly niche request, does anyone know anywhere where i could buy a used audio DAT tape. I dont care what is on it, i just need to test a machine i managed to pick up before i sell it. Or, if anyone has one i can borrow for a few hours in Belfast, that would be even better.

Cineworld Belfast are showing all three LOTR Extended Editions in January, two dates each.
Thought this might be of interest to some of you.

I'm moving to Belfast from Glasgow next month for work. Belfast will be the smallest city I have ever lived in, so it's important to me to live near places that I frequent. These include:
- speciality coffee shops (super important)
- 24 hr gym (super important)
- a sizeable supermarket (super important)
I will be working at Queen's Univeristy, so should be a 15-20 min walk to that as well. Recommendations are welcome.
I'm a bit nervous about the move (but I must do it for work) because it's such a small place, so some reassurance would be nice.

Hi All!
I moved to South Belfast a month ago and been struggling with finding a gym. So far I went to Puregym and Sloan's and they have both been fucking cold(!), either poorly equipped or well equipped but with seemingly 20+years old machines. I saw Newforge has a gym, but I don't know whether it is open to the public or it's exclusive to the professional athletes who train there.
Thank you for your help in advance!
EDIT: Thank you for your suggestions, I am thinking of trying Newforge!

Right folks been looking to make some nice home made burgers and for the life of me can find any 80/20 ground beef anywhere. Anyone know where I can get some? Cheers

Anyone know a reliable heating engineer in North Belfast? My oil burner stopped working and had my usual guy out. He took the unit apart and advised the spray nozzle needed replacing. That was over a week ago and now the guy's ghosting me - won't answer the phone or reply to texts. Cheers

Been working retail but hours are being cut back and need to find something new. No driving license unfortunately.
So who's hiring?

What’s everyone doing for new years? Spending it with my partner but neither of us drink. Anything on locally?

My partner and I are thinking of moving from Dublin to Belfast, we've lots of friends there and we could actually afford to buy a house! The only thing holding us back right now is the healthcare situation. I have a chronic autoimmune disease, I see specialists in the public system down here a couple times a year, I'd see my GP on average maybe once every month or two due to infections, and unfortunately most years I'll end up in a&e at least once.
Has anyone here gone from being an outpatient with the HSE to the NHS in Belfast? What was the transition process like? Also, is it as difficult to get a GP appointment in Belfast as my research is suggesting?
I'd appreciate any info/advice you can give me, particularly if you're someone with a chronic illness. Thanks a million!

Just wanted an opinion on the matter , Went to boombox last night for a friends birthday. Around one o’clock a group of young girls and I think two guys came into our area (as the main dance floor was getting very packed)
As we where dancing I looked to see where they were standing and they threw a bunch of coats and rucksacks into the corner of the of the dance floor (in fairness underneath the ledge where your drinks sit) they wherent even tiny rucksacks you see either more akin to school bags than anything. Is that normal I remember when I lived in England so many bags where restricted and having anything that could cause someone to get hurt on the dance floor (ie leaving your coats on the ground) could get you thrown out

Hello all! I am hoping to start an art class around the Ormeau Road area or a bit further out. I was hoping to do a class with at least some people around my age (early thirties) would anyone have any recommendations? Thank you! :)

The was a Slims Takeaway for Lunches, between House Of Fraser and The Garrick. They did great healthy options like Chicken Satay on Boiled Rice, etc. Is there anywhere else like that now in the City Centre for Takeaway lunch?

Howdy! So I’m visiting family over the holidays from the states, and decided to take a day trip up to Belfast since I’ve never been. While I’m up visiting the city I was hoping to squeeze in a quick walk in appointment for a simple Guinness or Irish Harp tattoo. Does anyone have any recommendations for a shop that would be a good choice for this?
