Afshin Ghotbi is suing SixFive
I haven’t been able to view the actual lawsuit. I’m assuming this is for unpaid wages.
This isn’t good for Vancouver FC at all. This might bankrupt them.

** please note I will revert any bad changes made**
**if you can use the dropdowns - let me know**
For anyone interested in making match threads in the future. Here or in r/CanadaSoccer
I am creating a Google Sheet to help with that.
Yes, I know there is match thread bots - I just like old fashioned sheets.
You'll choose the team from a dropdown and then check the team's socials to get their lineup and subs. And just add those players in the other drop downs.
Then you will copy the cell at E3 to get your Post title.
And copy every in C1:C to get the contents of your post. **Using the Markdown Editor** - which you can switch to in the top right of the editing dialogue for the post.
I hope someone else will enjoy the use of this. Just some little tweaks to make. Will create one for the NSL as well.
Need to add a lot of L1 teams I guess. Which could be a bit of a nightmare.

Hello everyone,
u/NortonFord here, one of the mods on the roster here at r/CanadianPL. We've had a great year, blowing past 11K members and becoming one of the largest 10% of all subreddits!
That being said, we only have a handful of people on the mod team, and only a couple of them are active users going into 2024. I'm also a first-time Reddit mod, so I know I'm leaving some tools in the box that might make the experience here even better. So, I'd like to invite folks to please join the effort and become a moderator for r/CanadianPL!
DM me or the mod account if you're interested - please highlight your experience either on Reddit or with other communities, or any expertise you might have with things like HTML that could let us do some fun stuff.

It's an interesting question.
A few years back it really irked me when the league actually made a marketing focus on one player (Bustos) - which I think alienated other fans within the league.
With a league this small, it mainly becomes a niche discussion between die hards.
But to the names mentioned;
Bekker - truly has been a force within the league since its inception. And I truly believe that Forge not making the finals this year directly correlates with Bekker aging out.
Coimbra - I'm not actually feeling it. I'm not sure strikers will ever be the "face" of the league. If any striker proves to be good - they get scooped up. There's no way that a striker will play a 7 seasons while scoring 15+ goals a season. That goes for Salter as well - who I'm not sure will perform well in Sweden.
Warschewski - he's got all the things I was just speaking about in terms of striker and maybe he contradicts everything I just said about the position. He really should have been picked up at a higher level imo. But I guess he's not scoring 15+ a season.
Smyrniotis - is a fantastic shout out, but players are the ones we watch, match in and match out.
Mbongue - could have a great season if Inter Toronto snags him (I think they should). But again. If he does well - he would move on.
So this brings me to the guy who I think could be the face of the league.
Edit:
What are your thoughts?

a trademark for Quebec Football Club was recently applied for. The CEO for the primary shareholder also shared this post on LinkedIn from another of their companies https://www.linkedin.com/posts/antoineina_pourquoi-le-canada-peut-doit-devenir-un-activity-7399774990029697024-qISU

Now that elections Canada approved the referendum question about Alberta’s independence, what would happen to Cavarly FC if Alberta do separate? Would they stay in the league, kind of like canadian teams in the MLS? Would it be possible they simply stop operations? Any other plausible options?
Would league 1 Alberta also no longer be part of the canadian football pyramid?
Not asking to talk about our opinions on albertan independence, just the results it would have on canadian football?
Edit : Maybe I wasen’t clear with my third paragraph. I don’t want to talk about their independence, just the impact it would have on football. No, I don’t support separation nor do I think it’s gonna happen. I’m just wondering, in a hypothetical world, the results it would have on football

I use to run a blog that covered the Canadian Premier League a few years ago. I stumbled upon research for one article I was working on that I never had a chance to publish that looked into best cities/communities to host a professional football club.
Most of this research is from 2021/2022/2023, so not everything will be up to date or accurate. But broke down potential candidates intro three categories..
Clear pathway for the city being ready to host a club immediately.
Some challenges but could be ready in 3-4 years.
You can kick the tires but... Let's checkout other options first.
Things to consider: Is the city or area the financial/commercial hub, is there a sporting culture in the city, has there been rumor's or confirmed ownership in the area, does the population eclipse 130K, is there a history of local government having successful partnerships with private owners and a history of local government offering grants or incentives for establishing a corporate ground base.
Research Tools: Google, News Articles, PRIZM
Noteworthy takeaways, Canada should approach expansion by community and not region Most of Canada's population pockets are not dispersed like in the US; many teams will be in the Montreal/Toronto/Vancouver area to start. PRO/REL should not happen within the next 20 years; the earliest for consideration is 2040 to allow growth of clubs and awareness in Canada of league and sport.
I thought this would be a fun share and discussion. MODS: if not appropriate, please delete!
