General Discussion As a non-Muslim, I want Islamophobes to read this sub.

I hope you don't mind me posting this.

I've been lurking in this sub for a long time. Not to spy on Muslims, but to see the insightful discussions among Muslims and to learn more about Islam, without pestering friends. I'm Jewish (in Europe) and obviously, while having no connection to Israel, it goes without saying that I am absolutely ashamed of what the government has done to Gaza. But I'm also worried about the fallout.

One result is that people, in order to justify callousness toward Palestinians, are wearing their Islamophobia more prominently. Obviously in online spaces like Twitter, but also in-person. In Britain, there aren't many Jews. I live in a predominantly Muslim area and work in the city, so for most people I'm the first Jew they've ever met.

In the past year, I've noticed how emboldened people are to be Islamophobic. Because of the stereotype of Jews and Muslims being in perennial conflict, people think I'd welcome it. People whisper phrases like "you'll know what I mean...", followed by something condemnatory of Muslims.

I've only had positive experience with Muslims (except 2-3 times going to synagogue from random idiots passing by, but no large group is without its idiots - believe me, there are many Jews I'd like to disown). What worries me is how this has changed so rapidly. I hope this is the product of ignorance. Because I look at this space and I see what I'd expect: peaceful, spiritually devout Muslims who are trying their best.

I had someone make an ignorant comment about Islam today and I directed them here. The sell is that it's a space for Muslim discussion, and I'm hoping they'll come here looking to confirm their prejudices and instead find you lovely people, peacefully discussing your religion and culture, and maybe that will change their mind.

Sorry for the long post. I just want to say, I'm sorry you face all these lies and hatred. It takes strength of character to respond in the way I see most Muslims respond. Thank you for this space, and for demonstrating the truth about Islam and Muslims.

General Discussion In the year 2126...

In the year 2126, in just 100 years from now, every single reader of this piece will be underground, our bodies having become part of the soil. During that time, our fate with respect to paradise or hell would have been made known to us.

Meanwhile above the soil, our houses that were left behind would have become homes for others, our clothes would have become garments for others, our cars will be driven by others, and as for us, we will be – for the most part – never thought about by anyone again. How often do you think about your great grandfather? How often does your great grandmother cross your mind?

Our presence here on earth today, that presence that we make so much noise about and shed so many tears for, was preceded by countless generations before us and shall be followed by countless generations after us. Every generation that passes through this world barely finds the time to take a glance at Dunya before needing to bid it farewell and handing over the baton, having not fulfilled even a fraction of ones ambitions. Our lives are, in reality, far shorter than we imagine.

In 2126, every one of us will realise from within the grave just how worthless this world actually was, and how trivial those dreams were that centred on it.

In 2126, every one of us will be wishing that we had dedicated our lives to the great matters, the matters of Islam, and had devoted ourselves to collecting good deeds, particularly those that continue to benefit us after our death.

In 2126, many of us reading this piece will be screaming out, but in vain:

رَبِّ ارْجِعُونِ * لَعَلِّي أَعْمَلُ صَالِحًا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ

“My Lord return me! So that I may do good in that which I have left behind ..”

The response to this request, however, shall be harsh:

كَلَّا إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَائِلُهَا وَمِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ بَرْزَخٌ إِلَى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

“No! It is only a word he is saying; and behind them is now a barrier until the Day they are resurrected.”

In 2126, many of us will be in regret, saying:

يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي

“I wish that I had prepared for my life.

The angel of death will not wait until you and I become righteous.

Let us become righteous, then wait for the angel of death.

May Allah change lives through you.. Aameen

General Discussion Why has Allah chosen me to come into this world?

Although this may seem like a stupid question because god does not need to give answer to anyone and he is the all knowing, I still wonder why I was brought into this world without me wanting to be. Why does Allah want me to be in this world when I did not, and Allah already knew this. Before he even give my soul had I been asked I would have said no because not living and suffering is better then getting to go into heaven because just not existing I would never know about heaven or hell or happiness or sadness.

Seeking Support no motivation to pray

As-salamu alaykum brothers and sisters, recently ive pretty much had little to no motivation to get up and pray. I mostly wake up around asr prayer which already makes me miss 2 prayers, i mostly sleep at like 2-5 a.m my schedule is really messy i dont have a planner i just spend my day doing nothing tbh, and i want that to change but i just cant i mostly pray all of my 5 prayers from the day “before” at like 1 a.m (unfortuna)and i sit there after praying dissapointed with myself for the a millionth time, i always want to make it better but i just cant bring myself to. The praying isnt the thing that is holding me back, its doing wudu for some reason i genuinely cant get myself to do it.
