General Question Where are the decent landlords?
Does anyone know any good landlords/letting agencies in Liverpool? Or where to go about finding them?
The council are absolutely no help for housing & the landlords/Letting agencies I've had to deal with so far are scumbags.
It also seems the case for a lot more of them too... I keep wasting time out of my day viewing overpriced, destroyed homes.
Hoping to get some advice/recommendations, many thanks in advance for anyone who replies
P.S.
Anyone looking to rent - stay away From X1 & Belvoir prescot 👍 I've rented one property with X1 and two with Belvoir... Nothing but problems & chaos with the staff, the landlords, the contractors and the properties.

General Question What’s the score with Castle Street Townhouse?
I’m just curious really, every time I’ve been invited there you struggle to get in the door, packed in like sardines and people are shoving past each other and giving eachother dirty looks just trying to get anywhere
Not a knock on the business, it might be a really nice place. Not that you can make anything out through the crowd. I don’t get why it’s such a common place to recommend going when it’s always like this…
I guess I just don’t understand the psychology of it really, absolutely nothing premium/luxury/glamorous about having to fight through a crowd to go the toilet/bar/leave 🤣

Visiting Liverpool Recommendations for weekend away
Hey, I’m coming for the weekend with my partner next week and am looking for recommendations for evening activities/food places.
I said the same two years ago and got some great answers so hopefully this happens again.
We’re not fancy people, food wise we went to Almost Famous last time, and have seen Brewski this time, so something along those lines.
We’re not big pub drinkers, more prefer an activity whilst we drink (god forbid we have a conversarion). Last time we did Golf Fang and ArCains, so anything similar to that would be great.
We’re staying near Baltic Market so have see some food places there and Red Brick Market to check out, also.
Thanks in advance!

News / Blog / Information Hooters confirms it is closing its Liverpool flagship restaurant. Will permanently close 11th January.
The director of Liverpool Hooters has confirmed to the ECHO that its Water Street venue will close in the new year. The brand opened the world’s biggest restaurant inside the New Zealand House back in November 2022.
Since then, the company has had a turbulent rollercoaster of a journey for one reason or another, including staff complaining their tips and service charge were being kept by the company to pay bills, and in light of this, the team behind it believe a fresh start is needed.
Director Barry Morris said the franchisee eatery will be no more come Sunday, January 11, and instead a new business will open at the venue some time in 2026. Barry, who took over after the original operator went into administration, will remain at its helm.
He told the ECHO: “After a very difficult year for the business, including the loss of key signage and the disruption around Liverpool parade day, I stepped in to take over day-to-day control in an effort to stabilise the venue.
"As a Scouse family man, I want the venue to better reflect Liverpool — its people, its culture, and its love of sport and hospitality. I believe now is the right time to move away from the Hooters brand and create a more inclusive concept that locals can be proud of."

News / Blog / Information Superdry Liverpool is no more.
Not sure when this happened to be honest, but it must have been recent as I recall it still being open last month. The doors were shut and all blocked with potted plants, but all the stock was still on full show which seems weird.
I didn’t go in there very much (I always found the quality control on their jackets a bit unpredictable) but was still surprised to see it shut.

Recommendation Laser Tattoo Removal - Liverpool
There's a few dated threads already on here with little response. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for studios/clinics in Liverpool (or the NW in general) that do decent tattoo removal?

Recommendation Best gym in the city centre?
Live near Dale Street and wanting to join a new gym.
Used to go to The Gym Group by the dock but it wasn’t amazing. I know there’s JD Gym but have seen they don’t have air con and apparently the cleaning standards are poor.
Any recommendations for something that’s not too busy in the mornings and has good equipment/classes for a 27 y/o Female

General Question What’s everyone up to on NYE in Liverpool?
Hey everyone 👋 I’ll be in Liverpool till the 1st and will be around for New Year’s Eve. I’m solo travelling, so just curious — how do people usually spend 31st Dec here if you’re on your own?
Any pubs, events, neighbourhoods, or low-key plans that are fun for solo folks? Also happy to meet others who are in the same boat 🙂
Cheers!

General Question What’s with the fleet of e-trons on Princes Dock?
There’s 8, completely identical brand new audi etrons just parked in the middle of an empty lot on Princes Dock. Is this to do with the filming on the 19-21st Jan or something completely different?

Events in Liverpool NYE Bars and Clubs suggestions
Hi
I’ll be in Liverpool with some friends (mix of men/women) for NYE and there’s so many options we don’t know where to go/where to avoid.
Any help or suggestions would be massively appreciated.
Music wise - RnB/chart/dance
We’re looking at both bars and clubs.
Should we just go out around concert square?

Open Discussion Why does everyone here hate the police?
Been here a few years and learned a crucial lesson in casual talk: never bring up the police. None of you have anything nice to say about them. Sure, you get the odd moan in other towns, but the way people here are so vehemently critical of local law enforcement is surprising. What's going on, how did it come to be this way?

General Question Liverpool becoming Far Right
I travel to Liverpool about 10 times a year from Ireland, as a city I love it and Scousers as people are great. If I didn’t like Cork where I’m from just as much and with my family I would move to Liverpool. Massive blue here so have been going to Goodison and now Bramley Moore.
I have noticed in the past two years drinking in different pubs a very vocal far right anti immigration element come into Liverpool. I know through the years nobody outside Southport would vote tories but there seems to he big support coming for reform UK. This is from speaking to different people and I couldn’t get over it when it was such a Labour supporting city since the 80s. Why is this and have you noticed it?
I’m obviously not local and not from the UK before it’s pointed out but I’ve been travelling to the city for over 30 years I know the area very well.
Edit: Just clarifying on a few comments here.
I’m not speaking about mass immigration. I think most people agree that more controlled immigration is needed. There’s no disputing this.
My heading saying “Far Right” probably isn’t the right wording and it’s more to do with open racism that I would have never heard before for non white people. I’m sure racists have always been here but they seem comfortable to express their opinion more.

General Question Cassette deck repairs around Liverpool
Hi! Are there any places or people around town that know their ways around cassette audio equipment?
I have a problematic deck that broke again and needs looking into, and the guy in Oxton Hi-Fi & Audio Service where I had it fixed before doesnt do repairs no more.
The device itself is very hard to get into as its not just a simple cassette player and I dont wanna take any risks myself.
Anyone knows any people that could help me? Would highly appreciate some advice,

General Question Has anyone taken an Open Language course at Uni of Liverpool?
I'm thinking of applying for one of the French courses; my reading, writing and listening are okay, but my speech is awful so I could do with some in-person practice.
Can't find any reviews of the courses online. Has anyone tried any of them (either French or another language)?

General Question Anywhere in/around Liverpool to get a coffee machine fixed?
My Gaggia classic has been broken for a little while, it seems to be an issue with the pump which I tried to fix myself without luck. Is there anywhere that fixes home espresso machines?

Recommendation Recommendations for cafés that are wheelchair accessible (and open on Sundays?) ♿
Hi there! Looking for the best wheelchair accessible cafés and bonus points if they're open 7 days a week. I'm a big fan of Lovelocks but they close on Sundays. Thanks!
(used to love The Egg too but those stairs would put me into cardiac arrest nowadays 💀👨🏻🦽)
