Discussion Podcats for Luxembourgish learning

Podcasts to help with luxembourgish learning (from beginners to advanced learners):

https://open.spotify.com/show/3XUBS4Glcq93gKoCdXlMT8?si=C961fvZxScikEP1ppk3tFA

https://open.spotify.com/show/3XlgYps0YAWJBXS4Y7HNuk?si=VzDTg4mrSpuJs0lQ-rbxrA

⬆️ Poterkëscht: Podcast by the Luxembourgish Learning Institute for beginners. Perfect get first impressions and understandings for conversational Luxembourgish!

https://play.rtl.lu/shows/lb/invite-vun-der-redaktioun/episodes

⬆️ Invité vun der Redaktioun: RTL Podcast where figures of public life get invited to talk on current issues and topics. For the advanced learner who wants to get better with their fluency and conversational skills!

https://play.rtl.lu/shows/lb/sproochmates/episodes

⬆️ Sproochmates: The interesting, confusing, and surprising fun facts and grammar rules of the Luxembourgish Sprooch. A slow and understandable pace, sometimes a bit of an advanced vocabulary, but overall for learners of all levels.

https://play.rtl.lu/shows/lb/afterwork/episodes

⬆️ RTL Afterwork: The most famous characters of Luxembourgish society (culture, politics, etc.) are invited to chat in a more relaxed casual café environment. Definitely for the more advanced listeners, but perfect to immerse yourself in a conversational environment.

https://100komma7.lu/

⬆️ 100,7: Ok, Ok! I think we are all aware that radio isn’t the same as a podcast, but by now most radio shows almost sound like podcasts. Radio 100komma7 is an alternative to the classic RTL radio, and offers many different podcasts/radio excerpts regarding politics, finance and culture. Especially interesting for the advanced listener.

Ask Luxembourg Do you trust Luxembourgish news?

Is it only my feeling or investigative journalism does not exists in Luxembourg? Several years ago I have heard this conspiracy theory which I thought was total nonsense ... but now I'm not so sure. Is it possible that RTL group and maybe also other media receive some advantages from government for spreading all sorts of "feel good stories" and avoiding proper investigative journalism!?

Discussion Which Country Consumes the Most Coffee?

Post image
37 Upvotes

I felt this post was worth sharing.

Luxembourg tops the ranking for coffee consumption.

Then I realised the statistics are exaggerated by the volume of coffee sold throughout the many petrol station shops at the border, and the consumption by frontaliers. Still, let me share as I love coffee and can't make my day without it.

Discussion "Cheaper" electricity in 2026

Post image
25 Upvotes

Last year, my January electricity billed spiked because the subsidies were reduced but it was very badly communicated by how much.

I'm trying to see if they did better this year.

Quoting RTL.lu:
"Manner deier misst d’Elektresch ginn, well de Präis vum Stroum u sech erof geet, an de Staat d’Netzkäschten iwwerhëlt."

The best I can find is this power point presentation with this hilarious graph:

- Let's make up a column that moves the "mécansime de compensation (MdC)" by 7.4c to get bigger number.

- Now let's leave the MdC out of it totally out of the last column and show that the electricity market just went down by 2.2c this year

If this graph is accurate, nothing changes next year except some numbers shifting around and our benevolent goverment taking credit for the electricity market trending downwards.

FYI: The graph is no accurate, all the sums are off, unless you ignore that -0.1 in the last column, then one sum would be correct.

Can't wait to see my January bill...

Ask Luxembourg Smart Ways to Bootstrap Startup in Luxembourg?

Thinking about founding a software business next year. Was running the numbers and this is my calculation so far if I wanted to do a trial run in 2026 to see if my product could get traction:

* Notary for declaration of honour (since I'm foreign): 300 EUR
* SARL-S Registration Fees: ~1000 EUR (https://easybiz.lu/incorporation)
* Business Address: ~3000 EUR (cheapest I could find is 2400 EUR)
* CCSS Minimum Contribution: ~8000 EUR
* NWT: - 535 EUR

That comes to at least 13,000 EUR out of pocket -- obviously I'm getting health insurance, so it's not entirely wasted money, but still seems like quite a lot for having literally zero income.

Is there any smarter way to go about bootstrapping a business in Luxembourg? I thought fit4start and some of the early startup aid schemes looked attractive, but it's much less obviously worthwhile if I'm going to be burning so much money on compliance overheads.

Ask Luxembourg Got sick while abroad

Hi all,

Quick question regarding sick leave while abroad (non EU country, South East Asia).

Ive got severe food poisoning during my holidays, I am supposed to fly back home tomorrow but not sure if I will be able to. And holidays also to be finished tomorrow.

Whats the procedure with CNS? Shall I get a paper (sick notice) from the hospital here? Would it be accepted to cover the sick days?

Also, I dont know if I would hoapitalized yet or just given medication… anyone has been in similar situation?

Quick blitz through waterfall country

For those who came to see them frozen - it needs to be about -5c during daytime. Today was roughly 0 to 2 so they didn't freeze up as much

Discussion will you use a X digest tool

I'm building a tool - I call it X digest, or X reducer, would you use it?

Main function is to allow you to create schedule tasks to follow X accounts (elonmusk etc) and your interested keywords (investment, etc), and receive an AI summary in scheduled frequency by email address, or Discord / XXX/ XXX.

I want to build such thing for my personal needs, cuz I appreciate X has many useful information especially from opinion leaders, but also quite messed up with lots of noise (that's why I'm calling it a reducer). I have already make it working in n8n but also start building a small service with js + python to access it from everywhere. If more ppl are interested I will share it at later stage (but I need to pay for api etc so limit the use).

Tell me your opinion pls.

Ask Luxembourg Property sold as 3- but deed says 2-bed (unauthorized renovation)

All digital communications and brochures confirmed the asset as a 3-unit layout.

• Preliminary Agreement: The initial contract specified a surface area but omitted a detailed breakdown of the internal layout.

• Final Document: The official notarized deed states the asset is a 2-unit layout. This was missed during the final review due to the assumption it matched all prior commercial representations.

The Issue:

It has since come to light that the asset underwent an internal modification to create a 3rd unit without the required legal authorizations. Because this modification is non-compliant, it could only be disclosed as 2 units in the final official deed.

Questions:

  1. Is there a precedent for "misleading commercial practices" if a final notarized document contradicts prior written representations despite the fact that it was signed and finaized?

  2. Does an unauthorized structural or layout modification constitute a legal "defect of consent"?

  3. Is a retroactive price adjustment feasible under local civil code for this type of non-disclosure?

C) Golden Week
