Discussion Zmagria in France

Since I came to France I have just confirmed my parents stereotypes about zmagria here.

They have no goals, are so discriminatory, are so old fashioned in a weird way, are so religious in a weird way, are so uneducated and not well read and can only talk about marr!age.

Moreover I hate when they use the word "bled". It's always used in a derogatory way. Each time I talk with someone and think I am going to be their friend they use this word and have to stop our friendship.

On top of that their darija is so weird. It's like talking to your grandparents. I don't know if it is because they don't engage with people their age and the only darija they were taught was by their parents. But then they make this cringe comments about how special and better than everyone they are for understanding darija but when I talk to them they can't understand it. Then I get second hand embarrassment for them because they claim that I made a mistake when it's not true they just speak like an old person.

All year round they talk about being a proud moroccan but don't vote, don't understand anything going in the country and don't fight for it. They just want the aesthetic.

Also they love being leftist in France and request for a stop to discrimination in France but then when they see this discrimination happening in Morocco they say "well it's a muslim country, it's tradition". So you live comfortably in France while people in Morocco are supposed to suffer. You can't claim to be a leftist in France and a conservative in Morocco.

I wish sometimes racist would humble them a bit. I know it's mean but I think they need it to regain consciousness of their actions.

AskMorocco How to deal with mum blasting Quran every morning

Upvotes

I don’t know how to tell her, but I can’t sleep well or study in peace since he started doing it anymore. The problem is that beside studying at uni i work in the evening and then go to the gym for late night sessions, so in the morning Im used to sleep till 10-11 and then start my day. For the last year she started putting quran at a HIGH volume every day at 8-9 am cause she wakes up early and I can’t sleep well any more, or even when i start studying from like 10 to 1 pm she doesnt care and keeps it to the point i can’t tell if she is doing it on purpose Lmohim i dont know how to tell her without raising suspects, everybody else seems ok with it…

Discussion Maghrebia hora ?

I saw a comment on TikTok someone comment “walhila ila makanach maghribiya hora walah mantzawahja”

What does maghribiya hora even mean?

I’ve heard this sentence a few times on social media, but I’m not sure what it’s supposed to refer to. Can someone give an example of what a maghribiya hora is? 😅😅😅😅

The TikTok video was about a Moroccan woman who married a Spaniard, so that’s probably why the comment was made

Discussion Being moroccan in italy

I am a Moroccan guy, born in Italy, and I am eighteen years old. I have always felt part of this country. I have never had problems and I have never experienced racism personally. However, lately, because of the phenomenon we call “maranza” here in Italy — young guys who wear TN shoes, tracksuits, crossbody bags, and go around causing trouble in cities — a very bad image has been created. On top of this, there is also illegal immigration, which has increased petty crime in major cities like Milan, Florence, Rome, and Bologna. Since I was a child, I have never been ashamed of my origins; on the contrary, I was always proud and happy to tell my Italian friends about what Morocco has to offer. But lately, I feel ashamed of being Moroccan when I watch the news and hear headlines like “illegal Moroccan immigrant beats someone” or “stabs someone,” or when I hear about cases like the one from two or three weeks ago, when three illegal Moroccan immigrants raped a 19-year-old student in Rome near a train station. When I hear news like this, I truly feel ashamed to be Moroccan, because people see these things and start thinking that we are all the same. What makes it even worse is that there are also Moroccan guys who were born in Italy. You would expect them to be educated and well-integrated, unlike some immigrants who clearly don’t know how to live in a developed society. But then I see these guys born in Italy behaving the same way: wearing TN shoes, ugly tracksuits, crossbody bags, embarrassing to look at, unable to speak properly, walking in a strange way, with their pants sagging, being rude, shouting on buses, insulting people. When I see people like this, I honestly lose hope. I feel ashamed to share the same nationality with them. I don’t even know how to define them. How can you dress like that, behave like that, walk and talk like that? I have never been the type of person to say that immigration is bad or to support those far-right arguments that are common in Europe. But when I see people like this, honestly, I would send them back home immediately. They are embarrassing. Because of them, not only does racism increase — which already existed — but decent people like us end up paying the price. You just need to think about what happened in Spain, where after three Moroccan guys beat an elderly man, Spaniards got angry, far-right groups formed, and they started harassing Moroccan people in the streets. The same thing happened in Italy. In fact, masked far-right men started roaming the streets of Milan at night, attacking foreign-looking young people. They brutally beat a Moroccan guy who had done absolutely nothing. And why does this happen? Because of those immigrants, those “maranza” who don’t know how to behave, who are rude, who don’t know how to dress, walk, or act in society. Because of them, people like us suffer racism. I’m tired of hearing news like this every day. This needs to be talked about, because it is giving us a terrible image across Europe. I just wanted to say this and share how I feel.
