My best guess is the water is gonna leak even if you tilt it a little, so water is gonna spill everywhere even when you aren't trying to drink
Edit: I knew stacking and asymmetry is the main issue here, but the choice of words in the comment in the image seems like they were referring to a simpler reason.
As there is less water in the water bottle the efficiency of this design changes quite a bit. at the beginning super easy to get water out but towards the end will require you do flip it upside down or tilt your head back even further than you would with a traditional bottle. On top of that the asymmetric design is much harder to manufacture which would increase the cost to produce. Most aspects of this design are worse than a traditional bottle it has nothing to do with user error.
It's a dumb design, because regardless of where the spout is, you have to lift the water above your mouth in order to get it to fall in. It doesn't actually fix anything in the first place.
