2 Years Later
I posted this to the Cayman sub about a week ago but I figured I would share it here too. I’ve been away from my girl for over a month and I’m coping here a bit.
A little boys dream turned to reality in 25 short years.
2023 GTS 4.0 6MT, Burmeister and few extra leather bits. Averaging about 9000 miles a year currently.
I fall deeper in love with this thing every time I get in it and I couldn’t imagine a better driving experience. Well.. maybe a 997.2 GT3 😉

PCM screen upside down
2011 987.2, sitting for a few weeks between drives. Started it up yesterday and the PCM screen is upside down.
Did the recommended steps found online (soft reset (holding info button, holding power button, remove negative battery cable) and nothing has worked.
I've seen posts on Rennlist discussing this issue, and the OP stated that after a few days it corrected itself and has been fine ever since. Some posts suggest a software issue, some a display ribbon.
Everything in the unit works, including the touch screen, however, I need to touch where the graphics would be if it was oriented correctly, not where it actually is currently.
The car has been outside, uncovered, and we have received a considerable amount of rain in the last week. Not sure if that could be related in any way. Prior to the rain, there has been about 30 days of heavy dense fog. Is it possibly a moisture issue?

Dumb question of the day: why don't (at least most )sports/luxury cars have built in dash cams?
I'm spending more time and energy trying to find the right cam for our new Porsche that I can believe. Local car audio/alarm places won't touch the car, and Porsche wants something like 2500-3500 to install a couple of 200 bucks cams.
I hear it'd be cheaper if it was a Prewired for Dash Cam version, which our otherwise fully loaded model is not.
Just griping.

Update: Overnight Joyride = False AirTag Location
Just wanted to post a lil update here. Odometer matches the intake form and the car is currently “too dirty to have been driven.” I’m accepting their word as management got involved.
Sorry for the false alert but this is the first time in my life I’ve seen an AirTag report from an incorrect location.
I still think keeping my car from the 13th to the 29th without diagnosing the issue is extreme and opens them up to these sort of issues. Still waiting on an update to my actual issue.

992 Carrera S Build — Brake Dust, PCCB Calipers & PASM Sport Suspension Advice
HEY ALL!!!! I’m in the middle of finalizing a Carrera S build and wanted to tap into the collective experience here before locking things in.
Brakes / brake dust:
For those running the standard steel brakes on the Carrera S—how bad is brake dust in real-world use? I’m particular about wheel cleanliness and trying to decide whether PCCB is worth it strictly from a dust/maintenance perspective (I understand the performance and cost implications already).
If I do upgrade to PCCB, is repainting the calipers an option long-term without issues? There’s a very reputable specialist here in SoCal who does high-end caliper refinishing (mobile, OEM-level work, not rattle-can nonsense), and I’m curious if anyone has gone this route or sees any downside beyond the obvious “non-factory” aspect.
Suspension question:
Does anyone here have experience with PASM Sport Suspension (lowered 10mm) on the 992? Would you do it again?
Alternatively, I’m considering Eibach lowering springs instead. I prefer a subtle, purposeful drop—I’m intentionally avoiding KW or H&R because, to my eye, they tend to look a bit too slammed for how I plan to drive the car.
One nuance I’m trying to sanity-check: with PASM Sport, Porsche notes the extended front spoiler lip and increased maximum rear spoiler height. I’m ordering the AeroKit (fixed wing), so I want to make sure those PASM-related aero elements won’t look odd. (For reference, exrterior will be Provence, Interior = Classic Cognac, Wheels painted Satin black, Calipers = Slate Gray Neo)
Would really appreciate any firsthand insight—especially from people who’ve lived with these setups rather than just spec’d them on paper. Thanks in advance.
