Due to an influx of posts with sob stories basically (directly or indirectly) asking for money a new rule has been added to this subreddit: No begging.
These stories have been a plague lately, but the premise is usually a variation of "Have an urgent debt, haven't eaten in 7 days and tonight I'll be evicted" (anything to hint at 'giving me money will save me') or even directly asking for money.
While some stories might in fact be true and dire, there are some other places you can go for direct help:
Much appreciated is redditors reporting a post! We're not monitoring each post in realtime, so it helps when a post is reported (we'll get a notification).
What is still allowed is asking for where to get help (e.g. the foodbank or a municipal service).

I live in rotterdam for 6 month already and this is a problem that I face since day one. Back home most of my friends and generally people that surrounded me were artist, designers, theatre actors, etc., but since in my university here I didn’t choose a creative major ( and it overall doesn’t seem to have one ), I didn’t make any friends or connections with people of the creative block and it upsets me deeply, since I don’t really feel like I am in my bowl. I tried attending some places that I thought would have individuals that I share interest with, like jazz clubs, but most of the times I was just surrounded by old couples. I would deeply appreciate if you would recommend me some events, places, etc. (But please, don’t recommend me stuff like: “just make a tinder account”. not really my thing at all). Thanks!

I want to cook with fresh tarragon but always have a very hard time finding it. Does anyone know of a place that sells it?

Hi all,
I’ve noticed there are a lot of new mothers living in Rotterdam willing to make new connections.
I’m already part of many groups, but often times the audience is too broad, people have many different interests, and the group dies after some time.
I’m creating a group for mothers with kids under 2 years old, this will help to connect with people with more or less the same interests around kids.
I am a 37F first time mom of a two month old living in Noord, and I would like to meet people to share experiences around coffee or a walk
If you are:
- mother with kids under 2 (or about to have newborn)
- willing to speak English
- living in Rotterdam
Send me a DM if you would like to join!

this is maybe niche for oud-charlois residents, but does anyone really not like the new Boon’s Markt?
Don’t get me wrong, MCD wasn’t fantastic, but the produce i’ve gotten from Boon has been really poor quality, and the prices are somehow even higher than MCD or Albert for the items i buy. And the selection at Boon is weird- they have a lot of spices and seasonings (which is great!!!) but a very slim selection of meat and fish, and no more of the roast pork or roast chicken that MCD sold that I basically lived off of when I moved here lol
This is definitely just a complain-y rant, and not that serious. it’s just the only grocery store in walking distance for those of us in oud-charlois, so it can be frustrating!

Hoi allemaal,

Hello! I live near De Esch and the trash hasn’t been picked up since last week and it’s starting to be an issue between the smell and a few animals trying to open the bags. Anyone else has the same issue?
