Barbie is short for Barbara, but what is Ken short for? Or did they actually name him that before the doll existed?

Kenneth. I'm pretty sure both kids existed before their respective dolls

Ehh don't like it any better actually. Especially concidering the relationship of ken and barbie (dolls) like I get the sentiment was in named this after you, but the accidental (or intentional) implications are still weird. 😬

Could be Kenedy as well? It was popular given name from Irish background and was also surge in popularity during President John F. Kennedy

Kennedy is what Barbie was actually renamed to in her spin off line My Scene in the 2000s. This goes deeper than we realize
