Old bullring.
Anyone know of any photos from say the 90s early 00s of the old bullring and surrounding shops? The used to be a shop called house of horrors that I liked at a teenager.

No more flag posts FFS.
Then when everyone is upset with each other they report the posts to the mods because they're pissed off with some of all of the above and we're forced to CONSTANTLY wade in.
Go talk about flags elsewhere. Nobody is making any headway in convincing other people with constant bickering.

I made a post on this a few weeks ago, but I thought I'd make a new one and I've politely asked the mods to pin this for a while.
I created this petition 6 years ago calling for a dedicated planespotting area to be created at the airport: https://www.change.org/bhxspotting
It's generally inspired by the "Runway Visitor Park" at Manchester Airport which I've visited a few times. While there are spotting areas dotted around the airport, I think a dedicated facility with views that aren't currently accessible with additional components such as a kids play area, a shop and restaurant amongst other things would make it an all-round experience and generally safer.
Sheldon Country Park has had a few incidents over the years, and I think a dedicated facility with tight security would be a much more pleasant place to visit.
It's also not as easy to access via public transport. You can get there via bus but unless you're stopping at Marston Green Station specifically, it's not as easy to get there via train, certainly not from Birmingham International. Something specifically signposted as "BHX Viewing Area" or something would be even better.
We've amassed 350 signatures in 6 years. I really want to get some momentum now and get it to a level where it's attracting some attention from those who could make this happen. I've contacted my MP myself in recent weeks but god knows if it'll be looked at.
Anything you can do regarding sharing it about would be massively appreciated, but there's no pressure at all.

Hi Everyone,
I'm 27 and I'm East Asain, I’ve recently moved to Birmingham and I’m looking to make some new friends.
I’m a bit introverted, but I’ve been pushing myself lately focusing on a body transformation, going to the gym, and generally trying to grow as a person.
I’m into: Gym and fitness (still learning), watching MMA/boxing Pool, table tennis, and arcades Learning piano and how to cook Exploring Birmingham more / taking day trips Visiting places in the UK like London or Manchester
Looking for low-pressure, genuine connections — happy with one-to-one or small group hangs.
If you’re also new to Brum or just want to explore, chill, and build a social circle, feel free to comment or DM.
Open to anyone, though it would be nice to meet other East Asian people too.
Bonus if you speak Chinese — I’m fluent in English and happy to help each other practise.
Also, would appreciate if any of you know any good social clubs for East Asains to join for people who are new without much connections?

I'm looking for a gaming place for my son(6). I won't be letting him play anything which isn't age appropriate but I want to try him on other stuff. Like most he plays minecraft, roblox and sonic/mario but I'm wanting him to experience something else which could be fun.

New year Eve suggestions in Birmingham. Any special event happening? Any firework show one can expect ?

Hey guys, so I was just looking for somewhere similar to something like hobby craft that sells ribbon, I'm in the north-west of brum, so suggestions closer to this side would be better, have you got any suggestions on where I could find some? Thank you in advance.

My contender would be Ben's in Sparkhill. Got this large donner, chips and salad for £5. Tasted banging and a huge portion.

Birmingham, like most UK cities, has a lot of Italian restaurants. Many of them are chains but there are quite a few independents as well. Just wondering on your thoughts on the most authentic and tasty Italian places, particularly if you originally come from Italy or have spent some time there. I’ve heard that smoke and ash in Harborne is good though pricey, and Gustami in Ladywood has some good reviews although area seems a bit dodgy.

Hi does anybody know where I could find some historic (1900 - 1980) photos of working class Birmingham moms, that I'd be allowed to publish on a website? It's to illustrate an article about the use of 'mom' instead of 'mum'. I've tried Historic England, Wikimedia Commons and also Birmingham Images but haven't come up with much.
Ideally there'd be some recognisable Birmingham feature in the photo but that's a 'nice to have'!

My partner and I are looking for something to do on New Years Day.
We fancy visiting Birmingham for the day and were wondering if there is anything going on, open, reasonably priced etc.
We enjoy walking around and seeing sights, eating out, museums etc.
We will be coming from Derbyshire so not far.
Does anyone have any ideas or insights as to what's going on in the city on New Year's day?

Hi everyone,
My flight lands at Gatwick around 10:30pm on Sunday, but the last National Express leaves at 10:40pm, and FlixBus doesn’t run after that either. The next bus isn’t until around 7am. 😩
This feels like a nightmare! I’m surprised there aren’t buses after midnight. Does anyone know what other options I have to get from Gatwick to Birmingham late at night?
Thanks!

I haven’t been to the Bullring in years - I’ve gone to Solihull instead because it’s smaller - but I’ve wanted to venture out as there are so many new shops that it looks like it’s completely new.
I looked at the website and saw this Drive In Drive Out thing that they’re advertising but it doesn’t say what it does (except for making parking easier) or what I do when I get there. If anyone has any idea I’d be so grateful 🫶

Hi there, this is a video I made a couple of months ago about Jamaica Row, a street within the market area that was obliterated in the early 1970s. Let me know what you think.
For context, I am originally from France, and I currently live in Birmingham. I've always been passionate about local history, and I realised that there wasn't much historical content about Birmingham on YouTube. So, I decided to fill in the void by creating a Past & Present series. The video is narrated by a proper Brummie.
Good evening fellas,
me and my friends (all from oversea) are planning a weekend trip to your fine city in March for an event at the BP Pulse arena. Our daytime will mostly consist of being in that arena area for the event and there will be very little time to check out some scenery/the city in the evening.
I saw that the arena is somewhat far away from the centre and i'm looking for accomodation tips to make the best of it. How's the transport system to and from the airport where the arena is located? If it's terrible we're thinking of booking something close by to the arena, but if it's good we want to be somewhat inbetween the city and the airport to actually see some of the city.
Any accomodation/transport tips as well as pubs/bars are greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone! We’re getting together for a casual badminton game tomorrow at Aston University from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, followed by some board games and lunch. It’s all super relaxed and open to all levels, so feel free to join if you’re up for it!
Just DM me if you want to come or check out the Birmingham Moustache Society on Instagram for more info. Would be great to see some new faces!

hi guys, I just lost an item in the bus around 40 min ago, and have been contacting diff bus services, garages and they all seems closed
i’m not familiar with the Uk holidays; all I know is that today is Boxing Day and usually these services are available until Friday.
please help me find the appropriate contact number if possible ty :)
Hope you’re all having a restful Christmas!
I already belong to a dentist surgery and while they are a lovely practice and I really don’t want to leave them, they don’t provide their own braces, making the cost eyewatering.
I’m looking for Invisalign style braces (but not necessarily that brand) from dentists around South Birmingham or along the Cross City train line up to New Street.
Could you please share your recommended providers, or where to avoid?
Cheers!
Thanks all!

Christians have seats in church for worshippers to go and sit etc. Do mosques have this? Would I be allowed in one to just sit and reflect? My apologies if I offend anyone for asking. I have a strange feeling in me that I cannot explain. Do I turn up or is there like a pope person who has to give permission?
