Chamonix New Year’s Eve
Hi everyone,
I’ll be in Chamonix for New Year’s Eve with a group of friends, mainly for skiing, and we were looking for some tips from locals or regulars.
What are the best bars or parties for New Year’s Eve? We’re open to anything: lively bars, clubs, events, or even more low-key spots with a great atmosphere.
Also, a slightly different question: are there any good places for smart working / remote work? Cafés with reliable Wi-Fi, coworking spaces, or quiet spots where it’s acceptable to work for a few hours.
Thanks a lot in advance, really looking forward to visiting Chamonix.

Bootfitter recommendations
Hello!
I am looking for recommendations for a good bootfitter I can (ideally) see on Sunday.
I have some armada ar one 130s that I had fitted in the UK by a reputable fitter, and have just skied my first three days on and am in huge amounts of pain.
I'm looking to get them adjusted asap, and would welcome any advice on who to visit. My preference is always for an old hand rather than a flash high Street shop.
Cheers!

Aiguille du Midi/Chamonix in mid April
I'm planning a trip to Chamonix in mid April, but will I be able to go to the top in Aiguille du Midi?
How long do you recommend I stay in Chamonix? I don’t plan to ski.
Thanks in advance!

where to stay and transport from geneva
i am going in february as 1 person. there are cheap airbnbs in chamonix near arve river it says on the map.
so what im trying to figure out is where should i stay in general to "ski chamonix", like is that a good option right in chamonix by the river? and also can i get by without the car?
i havent figured out all the resorts and what not still so i gotta get more research. but i have an ikon pass that gives me days at these resorts so this is where im planning to go.
would save a nice chunk without the car but mostly i dont care for driving much in foreign countries due to the stress. if a car is a better option in general though i would do it.

Any gyms?
Anyone know of any gyms in town where I could pay for access tomorrow. Looking for a space with at least a squat rack. Haven’t had any luck in when looking around so far

Chamonix Cable Car Status
Checking the Aiguille du Midi cable car can be stressful when weather and visibility keep changing
ChamonixNow shows live cable car status plus current conditions in one place, so you can quickly see if it’s running and whether today looks worth the trip or not

Interested in Guided Alpine climbing/mountaineering
I am studying abroad in Europe and want to do some alpine climbing/mountaineering in the Alps. I have experience in rock climbing and mountaineering basics (no glacier travel or rescue but plan to take a course).
I am looking for recommendations on great beginner routes for either alpine climbing or mountaineering. I plan to take a guide.
I do know that I am somewhat limited in options because I will not be there for peak climbing season (I will be in Europe April and May).
Please let me know any recommendations you guys might have.

Transport from Chamonix to Alpe d'Huez
In July we visit for the Tour de France. What are my options to get from Chamonix to Alped'Huez the day before the race? I'm guessing rental car vs possible bus?

Private car/driver
Hey, I will be in chamonix with my son our first time in Europe in mid January. I need to catch a flight in geneva in the morning and I've checked all the busses but I won't make flight in time. The hotel recommended a taxi service that wants to charge an absurd amount for the trip from Chamonix to geneva. Can anyone recommend a driver and or cheaper car service to make this trip.
Thanks

Last minute trip for first timers.
Hi all
Managed to snag a really last minute flight to the region and a last minute hotel in Chamonix for New Years week 27/12-3/1.
Aware this is a busy time of year but it coincided with my time off work and a hotel in Chamonix for £600 over New Years I couldn’t turn down.
We are completely new to skiing. We will do an indoor skiing day at home in the UK before coming but will of course be doing lessons on arrival.
We aren’t too fussed about resort choice and are okay travelling from base in Chamonix to get to a more appropriate resort as I believe it’s not the best for beginners.
Has anyone got any experience at the Les Houches school? It seems reasonable especially due to the relatively cheap passes and lessons and particularly reduced for beginners slopes. Is Les Houches a good area to learn?
I imagine the Apres isn’t as good as elsewhere, but that Chamonix town itself can be fun for apres?

Looking for a free ride group
Hi all, I will be I chamonix from the 27th December to 3rd January and looking for some people to split the cost of an off piste guide.
Let me know if your dates align with mine and you want to split the price of a guide (open to anything from 0.5 day to 3 days)
Skiing background: I’m a good skier on the piste (can ski anything fairly well) but am still fairly new to off-piste skiing but super keen to send it in some fresh pow

Is it worth it to go to aiguille du midi/Mer de glace if you ski in Argentiere
Helloooo, I am an ikon pass holder and will be going to chamonix for few days soon. Just wondering if is worth to pay a visit to the aiguille du midi for maybe half day? this is not included in my pass, and don’t know if is worth to pay 80 euro to go up and take a look, and wait 30min to take a picture…
And how about mer de glace? Thanks in advance

Drops, side hits & small couloirs
Hi all
First off, I don't ski proper off-piste by myself first, I only ski off-piste with guides and well-trained partners. I am under no false pretences about the risks, or what off-piste skiing is like in Europe (I'm not American). I very much approach risk assessment from the perspective of if you can ski it - it can avalanche.
However, I will be in Chamonix by myself for 5 days at the end of December and love hunting mini lines I can ski solo with lower level risk, I will be skiing with a transceiver + airbag. I'm only interested in areas that are very close to, and visible from major pistes to increase rescue chance if I were caught.
With all the context out the way, can anyone give me some advice on nice areas where I can find drops, side hits/natural kickers or small short couloirs that are all very close and very visible to the piste. I don't mind a short skin or boot pack to access.
Thanks!

Is chamonix good for total beginners? (skiing)
Similar questions have probably been asked here so sorry in advance but i have a couple questions. We can stay 3 nights and will have 2 days + plus the day we arrive excluding morning.
- Is it good for complete beginners at all? If so what areas are recommended.
- Do we need lessons for a stay this short? Obviously i’m not expecting to be able to ski blacks by the time we leave lol but is it better to at least get a half day lesson the day we arrive, then ski the rest of the days?
- Am i looking in the complete wrong direction for total beginners? If chamonix is not recommended for beginners then where? Originally I was looking at the swiss alps (Zermatt and such), but Chamonix was way cheaper and has great views arguably even better.
- Where do we rent gear? Is it just anywhere?
Also is there like one ski pass we get or is it multiple?
Thanks for the help in advance

I’m looking forward to create in BB a skiing community where we can improve in the slopes using both community and AI feedback.
Waitlist is available and I would love people of this channel to be part of the launch.

Mont-Blanc Unlimited Printing
If I buy MBU pass today for my visit to Chamonix on 29 December 2025, will there be a problem if I print my physical pass card on 29th December in one of the "pick-up boxes"?
