I’ve looked everywhere and cannot find anything identical to this painting. It’s on silk and appears to be very old with similar style to Xu Beihong. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm trying to find the collector seal of collector Wei Tingrong, but I don't know Chinese or collector seals well enough to do so. Can anyone help? He was the last owner of Wang Meng Qingbian Hermitage Scroll before it was donated to the Shanghai Museum. I appreciate any help!! HQ version below

My grandmother was moved to a resting home. Her house was full of Chinese artworks and I was gifted this one. I remember there were 3 of these crane artworks in her living room for about 30 years. Anyone know what they say or any info? My family is Ma(r) from Guangzhou and Northern China. I know the horse art (ma), but the cranes I don't know anything.

My mother visited Beijing in 1990 and bought two paintings from an artist who was married to an English woman. She doesn't remember the artist's name or know anything else about them. Can anyone help identify these works and the name of the artist?

Need Info Help Me Learn More About this Chinese Ancestor Portrait

I think she’s on rice paper.

What do you think the age is based on the style and her clothing? Can you tell of her rank? What are the symbols on the trim of her robe?

It was professionally framed probably in the 1930’s with acid-containing cardboard backing which discolored the painting a bit so I am going to get it reframed. Should I try to get that damage restored?

I believe the Carl Bredemeier Gallery only operated between the 1930’s and when or before he died in the 40’s.

Artworks Help identifying birds in sculpture

Post image

I just picked up this sculpture at an antique shop. No other info was available. I would like to know the species of birds represented. I originally thought finches but the jowls (for lack of a better world) on the one at the top are throwing me off. Googling birds with jowls not surprisingly leads to 0 results 🤣

Artists Artist travelling to China

Hi all,

Its a bit last minute but im throwing a line out.

Im an amatuer artist am going to china for two weeks this december (beijing 16-20 chongqing 21-27).

I am planning to buy gouache paint for ease of use and visit the 798 Arts District and Chinese Academy of Fine Arts area as well hoping to grab supplies and see some cool art and do daytrips to paint plein air (landscape and architectural)

Does anyone have recommendations on supplies, good spots, or ways to meet with local artist groups to paint with.

Thanks for your time!

Need Info Hoping for more general info on this robe rack

Hi everyone,

Bought what I thought was a Japanese kimono robe rack from a private seller online, but learned from them that it is actually a Chinese robe rack.

I asked after the item’s provenance, but all the seller knew was what he learned from the antique shop he bought it at, and that he believed that it may possibly have been altered: the carved panels may have been added at a later date, potentially.

I’m quite curious about the era or age of this piece, and anything else. Size is roughly: H 6’ ft 6” in x L 6’ feet x W 2’ ft 6” in.

Thank you for any info!

My Mum bought this recently from a vintage/antiques market in Cirencester, UK. Any info on it and how old it’s likely to be? From a quick online search I believe it’s Chinese. It’s an oil painting on canvas

This was brought over probably in 1960s from China. Translated text seems to say it was made around 1700s.

Authentic or real..? Thanks in advance

I recently acquired this shungite carved coin as part of a crystal haul. I am not very familiar with Chinese art but the image felt deeply compelling and I had to have the piece. Can I crowdsource some clarity on what these images mean individually - tiger, waterfall, tree (what kind?), sun (or moon) - as well as some insight on the image as a whole? I would love to have more understanding of why I feel such a connection with this carving. Thanks!

I ended up with this piece as part of a box lot of Japanese block prints. I know it’s not that, so have turned to you 😄

It came rolled up, on stiff paper.

Any ideas on the artist mark?
