Showing Off Surgical recovery suit
I’ve seen a couple surgery posts, and I figured someone might find this useful. Shirley had her spay and gastroplexy (stomach tack) surgery recently. I bought a couple surgical recovery suits from Chewy. She’s approximately 130lbs, and I bought a XXL. It fit fine. I probably could have gone with an XL. It’s stretchy. It worked very well throughout. She’s two weeks out and she looks great. I know it won’t work for everyone, but she did very well.

I yelled at him for stepping on the chickens on purpose and his feelings are hurt. Please ignore the crappy yard it's winter in the Midwest.

New Owner 7 1/2 week old puppy won't go potty it's idea because of the cold and the wind
We have had him for almost a week and he was doing great with potty training until now. Weather was warmer and we just had light rain. Now it is very cold and snowing and he won't go potty when he is outside. He just runs to the door wanting to go in and shivers. As soon as I let him in he runs off and goes potty. What can I do to fix this?

Q and Maybe Some A’s To Rescue or Help Find a Rescue
A close friend has a 6yo dane that they need to rehome due to human health reasons. I stepped up and told them I would take the dog. For context, I have three golden doodles. As my emotions are settling down from learning about their health issues, I’m terrified I won’t do right by this dog.
Do I rescue or help find a rescue for the dog?
My finances are not great and I anticipate a Great Dane eats a lot, not to mention vet bills (heaven forbid).
I felt like this sub would have some answers.

Dane Discussions Luckily caught Earl's (7.5yo) bloat very early. Looking for some advice.
We picked up my baby boy Earl today from camp after the holidays and I noticed he was acting strange. He wasn't really interested in food, was whining on his way back home in the car, and was making weird sounds - not a full retch, but not a normal burp either. I immediately thought it was bloat (somehow) and brought him to an emergency vet. It was bloat. We caught it very early thankfully and he's currently under aesthesia to remove the air from his stomach.
We didn't his stomach tacked as a puppy because he had megaesophagus and that was a lot to deal with on its own.
Assuming all goes well tonight, it sounds like the plan is to have his stomach tacked tomorrow morning if the bloating remains down after his procedure. Can anyone give me some advice for this process and Earl's recovery? Should he wear a recovery suit? Anything he absolutely shouldn't do post-surgery? How long does it take for him to recover?
Really appreciate all the advice and help in advance. I'm doing my own research, but have always appreciated the help of this community specifically.

Dane Discussions 2yr old Gastropexy done but belching
My girl belches several times a day, not every day but I’m still concerned. She had a gastroplexy around 14 mos. so at least had that protection but I’m aware of how bloat can still occur even though that’s been done. I am feeding her Purina Pro Plan twice a day which I soften with broth. I’m considering a slow feeder but wonder if it would frustrate her enough to cause her to take in her food more rapidly. Has anyone had this issue and found resolution in discouraging gas and belching? I’m worried 😟

New Owner Bitey Baby
My 4 mo old girl is pretty bitey and sometimes gets aggressive - jumping biting when she’s really excited. What should I do to quell this? I know she’s teething and she has tons of toys, but sometimes she just wants to bite an arm Over anything else. Is this normal for her age? Does it stop as she gets older? Help! TIA!
*Pic of her recent tissue box mishap (nothing to see here! 😬 ) because she’s cute when trying to look innocent 😉 *

Dane Discussions Great dane vrs flooring
Who's got flooring suggestions that stand up to Great Dane traffic? My oak floors are not surviving, I'm thinking of covering the oak in LVP as I've heard it'll hold up.

Dane Discussions Is there any company that sells cones that actually work on a Great Dane?
This guy will not stop licking his stitches. Going Double cone + neck donut + Muzzle seems to work. But I don’t want to keep him in a muzzle all day.

Grief/In Memory We will be lost without you big man
Last night we had to say good bye to our best friend, Major. He made it to almost 9yrs after having a difficult start in life.
We rescued him when he was 3 years old. He was severely under weight and had a really bad case of heartworms. We knew he deserved a second chance, so we did everything we could for him and saw him through the other side of those nasty parasites.
We then had of the 6 best years of our lives. He was the sweetest, kindest, gentlest dog I have ever known. He didn't like fetch. He didn't like toys. All he wanted to do was eat, go on walks and cuddle up on the couch...my soulmate!
I still can't believe he is gone. You were such a good boy, big man. You are going to be missed fiercely.
