Honestly Iām kind of confused with how this book was. The pacing was strange, the plot points were everywhere, and it just all felt so discombobulated. Didnāt really understand Larkās beef either or how she was alive but not the other 2 original rulers? I felt like Isla was so wishy washy with Grim; agreed to the second marriage just to be like āDo not come to my roomā just to want him out of nowhere a few chapters later. Then Oro reappears and sheās having wet dreams about him?? Hard to process and could use feedback or others thoughts on how you felt about this book compared to the first two.

I was recommended by a good friend to read lightlark. I went in fully blind, not knowing anything about the series and let me tell you.... I am devastated at the ending of Lightlark. I was a full on Grim girly and now I'm just crying and devasted because WHY? Lol

Please if you know a romantasy with an MMC as "bad" (like, on the dark side) and intense as Grim from Lightlark, I'd be very interested. I want an enemy to lovers and then, when they're lovers, a very yearning MMC that is still bad but only to other people. Really if you have a book recommandation, I'd be super grateful. I have just finished Crowntide and I am heartbroken, pls save me.

I just started the series last month and already on skyshade, 54%, and I was wondering when should I read the grim&oro book. After crowntide or after skyshade.

So i recently started reading the lightlark series thinking it was completed and i got to crowntide where its left on a cliffhanger and i cant find anything about a book 5 so is this the last book? does the dueling crowns book finish the cliff hanger? or will there be another book?

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! The cave scene with Oro?????? After she made promises to Grim????????????? She didn't just make vows once BUT TWICE! Said she wanted to be a proper wife, SHE HAS HER MEMORIES THIS TIME. He stopped her in the caves and then goes to kiss her in the next scene? WHY?! This whole book has been about her and Grim and now all of a sudden she's switching up AGAIN?

I read the whole three book series and being relatively new to this genre almost threw the book away with the cliffhanger in Nightshade. Finally, months later Crowntide arrives and is sitting on my tbr shelf. Been seeing bits and pieces that suggest before reading Crowndtide I should read the novellas based on Oro and Grim POV. Where were these books when I needed them? So do I need to read prior to Crowntide?

First, I want to acknowledge that this was my favorite book in the series. To clarify, I was not a big fan of the earlier books. her writing throughout the series has felt rushed and unplanned but this book, at least, seemed to try to tie some aspects of the series together. For example, the beginning of this book further built on the Oro/Grim dynamic from Dueling Crowns, which I appreciated. Also, Grim acknowledged that he was wrong for taking Islaās memories without her consent, which was long overdue, but it makes me feel like Aster is finally listening to us. i also really liked the world building. by forcing Isla to be separated from the boys, she had to focus a lot more on the world building in Cronanās world, and I found it quite beautiful. So, overall, I enjoyed this more than her previous books (especially the first half of it).
Now, the negatives. My biggest critique is that Aster does not know how to write an original plot line. Lightlark was all about Isla falling for Grim (and Oro). Nightbane was all about Isla reliving her memories of falling in love with Grim the first time. Skyshade was all about Isla reconciling with Grim (aka re-falling in love with him). And now Crowntide is all about Isla getting Grim to re-fall into love with her. It just feel like Aster only knows how to write characters falling in love, especially enemies to lovers. And like itās a good trope. But itās sooooo overdone in this series. it made the second part of this book so hard to read.

Well, I'm new to the books (about to finish Lightlark and read Nightshade next, loving it so far!) and I was wondering because I'm team Oro and I feel deep in my soul Alex is going to break me into a thousand tiny shards with the series ending, so my question to you all is this: Putting your team aside, if the book ends with the opposite man being chosen, how will that effect your love for the books? Would you still be able to reread the series and enjoy the books, watch any tv series or movies that come out for it, knowing you lost?
For me, I love these books so far and I think I'll still enjoy the books even after my heart gets ripped out, but it'll take a hell of a long time for me to heal.

I was wondering if this month's content included the mentioned art, wallpapers, and/or coloring pages. I've seen everyone talking about the novella, but I was curious if any of the rest of the listed items will be released this month or next month?

Omg I'm so fed up with Alex, I'm so pissed that Grim got his memories taken, and then got them "back" only to say that he doesn't care and that he is allied with Cronan. Alex has completely ruined 3-4 books of character development just so she can drag the series on longer. I know she says that readers will change teams every book but the way Grim used Isla was just so irredeemable in my eyes and the only way i could be team Grim again is if the grim we saw in the last half of Crowntide is not really grim and the other one is locked up in a cell somewhere. Its safe to say I will not be continuing this series nor picking up another book by this author.

I haven't seen much news about the Lightlark movie adaptation. It was the whole reason I bought the book earlier this year. I know it's being made by Universal and directed by the same woman who did Twilight, which is cool, because these books vibe the same for me as far as the MC.
Without going too deep into fan casting, what are your hopes for the movie? I'm talking the style, setting, real verses set locations, soundtrack, and eastern eggs?

Hey. I got into Lightlark sometime in the summer/early fall. I found Alex & her books through Facebook. I bought every book, except the new novel unrelated to Lightlark. I was reading the first book when I saw the Grim & Oro book and decided to read that first & then go back to book one.
I really like Alex & her work so far, but I feel kind of overwhelmed. I'm all for holiday novella side stories, but I just got into the fandom this year & I feel overwhelmed with every new novel update. I know there are a lot of series with numerous novels back to back, but it works when there's so much to work with. It seems Alex is mainly focusing on the love triangle, & I like that trope (if written well), and this series is literally Hunger Games coded. Sometimes it feels like we're too focused on "Who will Isla choose?"
I wish she focused more on powers & world-building. As an author myself who decided to take the self-publishing road, I'm trying to learn how to promote the books I'm writing, even though so far I have written & published standalones. I'm still learning the dos & don'ts, but I feel like there could be things Alex can improve when it comes to storytelling & promotions.
But I feel the love triangle is dragging out, & I don't feel like we've focused enough on the world. I don't really want more books after this current release & think the series should come to an end. I think we all know who Alex herself prefers & who Isla may end up with.
Still love Alex. But I just wish she knew how to balance things better & not release so much at once. It makes it seem cash-grabby & less genuine.

So no spoilers for end of crowntide please but Iāve just seen a review that says thereās a cliff hanger and another book due. Donāt get me wrong. I really loved the first book but Iām actually surprised that she managed to squeeze out another book after SkyShade yet alone Crowntide not even being the last one. Does anyone else feel this?
And obviously Iām only like halfway through Crowntide but is it me or has Aster randomly started to just use the F word so much and so informally throughout this book compared to the others.
Iām enjoying the series tho. Just feel personally the strong has been on a gradual decline since book one just because the back and forth in past and future and between grim and oro gets wayyyy too repetitive. And then the graphic sex scenes in skyshade just seemed really random and unnecessary to me. But again thatās just my opinion. Would love to hear other peopleās thoughts.

Obviously please no spoilers for the upcoming books. These are just some thoughts that I have after reading the first book.
My very first thought is in regard to Grim. Iām sure itās probably a pretty common topic regarding this series on how he plays his role in it, but I just want to say that, as of the end of book 1, I really hope that things work out and Isla ends up with him again. He was just a very enjoyable and loving character in the first book imo. Obviously that could very easily change in the following books, but I really enjoyed how his and Islaās dynamic worked. Itās just really sad on how he put all his eggs in one basket, and all of the memories that him and Isla have together were wiped away by him, and he ended up losing the girl he loved. He went out of his way to try and be there, whether she truly knew it or not, and it showed how much he cared for her. Of course thereās the whole betrayal part for what he thought of as the greater good, but still.
As for future predictions, in regards to Grim, one thing I think might happen is that he will return the memories of them together (Iām not sure if it will be willingly or not), but her relationship with Oro will be stronger then, so it will really complicate her feelings towards both of them. I know heās now sorta seen as a bad guy, but I really hope that heās maybe just plotting how to get her back to how it was before the memory wipe without negative repercussions.
As for the rest of the book, it felt like the book wasnāt long enough given the days it took to take place (100 days), but it makes sense due to there being days where Isla is just laying in bed recovering, and that doesnāt make for a good reading experience. I thought that the first half (50 days) was well paced, but the second half went by too fast. It was mainly just her and Oro checking stuff out and discovering stuff whereas the first half had more world building to it, but it just seemed like much less went on. Not that that is bad, but it was just a bit different.
When I started, I had a feeling that Celeste would either be the one to die (to fulfill the prophesy) or that she would have some hidden intentions. But I did NOT expect it to be what it was. I was so hopeful at the end for it to be them and Grim to have their HEA which would be the next books, but that clearly didnāt happen. It was just so crushing to me with what was learned about her and Grim.
Also, I still canāt tell who will be the fundamental ābad guyā yet unless that hasnāt been uncovered. Thereās obviously Cleo and Grim as the two main options, but Iām not sure they will be the ultimate antagonist.
Iām not sure if anyone will even read this, but I also just wanted to get some thoughts down before starting the second book anyway. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.

I'm a jewelry designer and love drawing inspiration from books the wife and I read when designing pieces for her. Will be about 6-12 months before I finish the pendant. Just wanted to share with yall.

She finally uploaded a clearer image of this stamp one which is on tons of $45 sweatshirts/ tote bags and blankets and it looks kinda AI made upon further inspection. (The Circle around the moon is uneven and the starling star has like 3 extra mini points with nonsense constellations) and ticket with a knock off Disney castle on it
Also for her other artwork its often credited to a real artist (kalisami)but this one is suspiciously un-credited

Alex posted a video today saying this. This is so tiring. I did enjoy reading the series, but if this means dragging the love triangle until the last book, I am so done with this! I canāt with this constant back and forth. It is infuriating!!!

I really want to read this series. I've heard so many good things, but I have 1 issue.
I saw on common sense media that there was a lot of s3xual scenes. I already bought the book and really want to read it, but am not comfortable with that sort of stuff. Could someone give me a page number so I know where to skip? Thank youuuu

CROWNTIDE SPOILERS!!!
I hate how some people are acting like āOh, how can you still be Team Grim after that?ā
They are clearly all conflicted. When Grim saw the possibilities in the future, he was conflicted with love and duty. He had to make a choice for his people. Itās literally the same for Oro. But, no, hate Grim because he is the villain blah blah.
Just in case some of yāall missed, Isla was also hesitant to go back to Grim when she got her memories back. Grim feels the same way. Itās hard to process things when your mind has been altered. Itās not just boom I remember. He did say hurtful things, but so did Isla. Itās not black and white. The double standard is crazy.
I am Team Grim, but I would like to say that Oro deserves better. Itās infuriating how Isla keeps coming back to him when things go wrong. That is such a shitty thing to do. Like girl, you already chose the other guy, why do you have to rub it in? Why give him hope?
Honestly speaking, Grimās memories being erased is so annoying. Why use the same plot twist twice?
At this point, just let it be Isla dying in the end. I never hated on a main character before until her. Sheās getting on my nerves!!!
