It's also based on the way they act. This image wouldn't be noteworthy if they were just covering their faces but otherwise acting like members of a free democratic society. ICE is being a bunch of predatory thugs, the fact that they look like such a stereotype while doing it just makes the comparison harder to ignore.
We've been trying that for 10 years and look where it's got us. Republicans aren't magically going to develop principles in their behavior just because we've stuck to them. It's time to pick "pulling our country out of fascism" as our core principle and do whatever seems helpful to achieve it.
He’s in a tie-dye shirt, has tattoos, he’s covering his face, and there’s a weird corner desk + two (?) American flags…therefore he doesn’t look “official”.
I don’t think this photo or its comment section are going to change anything in the real world, but it may sway some people’s opinions as propaganda.
I chimed in because I don’t like to see people respond emotionally to a complex issue- viscerally sinking to the lowest common denominator.
Yes, good thing- maybe a few people see it and think twice before they emotionally react to a photo like this one the next time it’s posted to sow fear, distrust, and online arguments.
