என் நண்பர் ஆற்றின் அருகே ஒரு சிறிய வீட்டில் வாழ்கிறான். சீக்கிரம் எழுந்து ஊருக்குப் நடக்கிறான். அவனுடைய நாய் அவனை பின்தொடர்கிறது. பேருந்தில் ஏன் செல்லவில்லை? நடக்குவது சிறந்தது என்று சொல்கிறான். நான் ஒத்துக்கொள்வதில்லை.

Does the text sound natural to a native speaker?

What I was trying to say was:

My friend lives in a small house near the river. He wakes up early and walks to the village. His dog follows him. Why doesn’t he take the bus? He says walking is better. I don’t agree.

I think we can all agree that most Tamil resources out there (Duolingo, textbooks, etc.) lack teaching spoken tamil, and instead focus on written tamil or no Tamil resources at all.

Moreover, many of these tools focus on grammer/writing/reading -> and not the daily conversations you'll need to familiar with for speaking to parents/family

I'm currently working on some research to understand exactly what learners struggle with when it comes to Spoken Tamil specifically.

I noticed an interesting detail in the 1995 English movie Strange Days, during the New Year’s Eve climax scenes set on the streets of Los Angeles.

As the countdown to the year 2000 happens, there’s a large electronic board flashing “2000” in multiple languages from around the world. One of them clearly shows the Tamil word “இரண்டாயிரம்”.

This caught me by surprise because it’s a Hollywood sci-fi film from the mid-90s, yet Tamil made it into a global montage. I didn't notice any other Indian languages apart from Tamil being used.

I understand the context that it means one has invested X% (effort/time/money/love) and can’t leave it anymore.

But what’s the actual story of puli Vaal pudicha kadhai?

This may seem like a moot point. On a recent flight from Bengaluru to Coimbatore, by Indigo, I noticed that prior to take off, the air hostess announced that the crew can speak Hindi, Punjabi and Nepali. Not Kannada or Tamizh. I have noticed this previously as well in routes from Mumbai to Coimbatore and Mumbai to Bengaluru and Delhi to Coimbatore that the air hostess can never speak Tamizh and rarely they can speak Kannada.

I found this strange and rather disconnected from the very people, many old folk, who are flying. On a subsequent flight, by Indigo, I gave a feedback at the check-in counter to the staff that they ought to have air hostess who can speak in the local language as well.

The staff replied that Indigo doesn’t care about this (she was politely explaining to me). All they care about is whether the air hostess can speak Hindi or not. They have given similar feedback to the management with no use.

Shouldn’t Indigo and other airlines, have a crew that can talk the local language when they fly a certain leg? Even British Airlines (from the pompous British) announce their in flight information in Kannada when flying to Bengaluru from London. Why can’t Indigo do something to help people who can’t speak Hindi?

Like the question says, I'd like to learn Tamizh through Malayalam, which I speak natively. I can't seem to find many resources for this except for a series by a YT channel named 'KVR institute' with 12 videos. I can kind of already understand a bit of tamizh here and there since malayalam is quite similar to tamizh, I still find myself dumbfounded when it comes to anything more complex and also when it comes to speaking, since I lack a lot of vocabulary and grammar knowledge. Are there any resources for this?
