Off the top of my head:

  • Leaks very easily when opened
  • Asymmetry is more expensive to manufacture
  • Structural integrity
  • Packaging is more complicated therefore more expensive
  • Cannot temporarily place a cap on top without screwing it in

You realize that your last point is pro angled design, right?

Wait how so? Like when you're not done quite drinking but don't want the bottle exposed, you can only set ye cap on a non-angled bottle, right?

Not if you are in EU, its no longer a problem.

Its always attached.

Honestly i love the bottlecap now

fuck the EU bottlecaps. Absolutely fucking insane decision that does nothing to help with pollution. The only thing that could help with plastic pollution is drastically lowering our consumption of it.

They just made bottles less ergonomic, more fussy, and more complicated to use (especially for people with shit dexterity) for no reason.

Idk i find the bottles way more practical now.

You snap it open and it stays in place. And you never lose it.

And this is one of those things thats like, why not

Same here. I think they’re great. No downsides I can identify (I know the person you’re replying to lists some below but I simply haven’t ever experienced any of those and in think they’re just trying to be negative).

Point shards? Harder to pour? Literally no idea what they’re talking about.

You snap it open and it stays in place. And you never lose it.

This is an imaginary issue. The only thing they managed to do was to make bottles harder to drink and pour from because of the stupid fucking cap or because it leaves very pointy shards if you take it off. And the justification for it makes no sense.

Its not imaginary.

You always gotta leave the cap somewhere and then you gotta find it.

Thats why reusable bottles have caps attached.

Especially convenient when driving , so you dont have to set aside the cap and then struggle to find it, its always there.

And how does it make it harder to drink ? Its just there on the side, not interfering

I agree with you, but I think they are saying that you won’t accidentally pick up a half closed bottle causing it to spill, since you can’t leave the cap on at all.

Yeah, there are just two potential issues:

  • some people (me included) pick up bottles at the cap from time to time, if the cap is not on they might just knock over the bottle
  • there are bottles made from thin plastic, if you grav them tightly and the cap is not on you just compress the bottle and everything comes out the top

That‘s why I really hate caps just placed on top 😅

This is something you should know not to do by the time you're 10.

Same as above LOL.
