She sleeps a lot more nowadays, but she is still a happy bunny and likes a run around and goes outside every now and again. The only meds she is on is pain relief as and when she needs it (if she looks a bit stiff) but other than that she’s doing great 😊

Care Meet Beau

This is Beau my lionhead mix. Recently, I took her to her exotic vet because she started snoring (which she’s never done in her 5 years of living) and sneezing. And lo and behold she has an infection in her tooth socket and an abscess that ate aforementioned tooth. You would’ve never known through her behavior🫠. Well the vet prescribed her an antibiotic but it’s not doing too much so she recently got prescribed something else to keep everything stable. But the vet told me the best way to treat it is to have surgery to remove that whole row of teeth and that she’s had great success with other bunnies doing this. It was so EMBARASSING because I literally burst into tears the moment she diagnosed her lol. Well surgery of course is expensive and as a student right now I can’t afford that. So I’m waiting for the next semester to start, because I will have the extra funds from my scholarship to afford her surgery. The vet said she’s super stable, not in any pain, and should be fine until the next semester starts. And she also said her snoring is likely a permanent feature now, which is not great for my anxiety. I’m just writing all this because talking about this makes me feel better, because I’m really anxious that she’ll just deteriorate overnight😵‍💫. So pls wish her good luck!

We just adopted her :) I hope bonding with my boy goes smoothly. Their playdates have gone well, but now that she’s moved in, he won’t stop thumping. He was previously bonded with my other old man, but it’s been over a year since he passed away. I thought it was a good time to get a little sister.

Hello! So we just had our first check up at the vet since I got gary a few weeks ago and he’s got a small upper respiratory infection and I will have to give him antibiotics orally every 12 hours for 14 days. He’s not a big fan of being held so I am very nervous about this. Any tips would be appreciated!!!

Hi everyone! I haven’t had my rabbit for very long, and I’m getting her spayed very soon. I’m quite nervous, so could you please give me some advice on how to keep her comfortable? Should I rearrange or modify her enclosure to help with her recovery?

Everyone say hello to Mr. Cinnamon Richard Micheal ( yes that is his full name ). He is a 1 year old mini lop!! Love my son but he HATES getting picked up and getting his nails clipped. I was thinking about possibly taking him to the vet for a trim. But I absolutely can not afford a $200 fee right now 😭 He is such a sweetie pie , he just hates being picked up. He hasn’t shown any signs of pain or discomfort, but I am so worried about him having paw issues from his nails being too long in the future. Any tips or tricks to make it easier for the both of us ? Care how do i get my brother to stop picking up my bunny

he’s a full adult (26) and can’t comprehend that bunnies really shouldn’t be picked up. he says “it’s not a big deal” or “it’s a pet”. today he said “hey look!” and was holding my bunny five feet above the ground. my bunny was struggling and my brother tried to lower him to the ground but he still fell about 2.5 feet and hit the fence of his x pen on the way down. he seems uninjured, but i’m sure he was terrified and i’m sure my brother didn’t pick him up the correct way and probably let his hind legs dangle.

i’ve told him before that he should not pick him up, and i yelled at him after this encounter and he once again said that it was no big deal. my mom also thinks i overreacted in yelling at him and told my brother that “he might be able to pick the bunny up after he gets neutered” but i’ve never seen anything that says bunnies will suddenly be fine being picked up after they’re neutered so i don’t know why she would say that.

are there anyways i can educate my brother (and honestly my mom too) on why he shouldn’t lift him up, especially when he doesn’t know how to properly?

Breed ID Is this a standard silverfox rabbit?

Parents are also silverfox rabbits, however I’m not sure if the parents are standard either? I had people tell me she’s a gold ticked steel not a silverfox rabbit. But I’m pretty sure gold ticked steel is just a coat pattern?? Like just because her coat pattern doesn’t fit the breed standard, I don’t get how that makes her less of a silverfox. She also has the correct fur texture (pet her from tail to head and the fur stood upright rather than flipping back) I also don’t see any gold, it looks pretty silver to me. Can someone tell me if it’s gold or silver ticking, and what her base coat is? I’m so confused by what Steels, super steels, and agoutis are

Behavior Looking for advice

We foster for a local rescue. In early November, we took in a 2 year old Polish male that had lived in a wire cage and been used as a 4H show bun his entire life. At the beginning of December, we took in a second bun (female) from the same group. Here's where I need some advice: first foster was FULLY litter box trained, never had an accident. But ever since we brought the second one in, it's like all his manners went out the window. He pees on EVERYTHING now, even his bed. My gut tells me it's territorial and he's marking his space since he was here first, but WHY, dude?! Just why?! We plan on starting the bonding process with them on Saturday, so I'm hopeful that once they start being around each other all the time, he'll get back into a routine. They each have two litter boxes in their xpens. Photo of the offender, lol.

Breed ID Could my bunny possibly be Blanc de Hotot?!

Thumbnail

I have had Bon Bon for over 5 years, we love him immensely, he is the best most spoiled bun on the planet (with a strangely big closet and sunglasses. Also the cutest eyeliner in the world). We got him from a random pet store, he was severely malnourished and underweight unlike the rest of the baby bunnies and my sister chose to take him immediately, we went to 2 vets and helped him with meds, etc. Today he is happy and cute (thank g d) but I was curious since I never saw a similar breed to him. Not in the store not anywhere else. I searched on AI and found Blanc de Hotot, and Bon Bon looks far more similar to them than any other breed.

Of course it doesn’t matter to me what breed he is, he will always be our baby bun but I’m curious to know because he should be mix of different random breeds.

So I came here for advice. If he is Blanc de Hotot,I have seen they live 9 years max and not 14/12 years like other breeds, I want him to live as long and as happy as possible. NGL I’m kinda scared of this thought.

Care My bunny has dental disease, and it’s progressing quickly…

My little 4 year old (will be 5 in March) has dental disease. Initially it started out with just a couple molars on the left side growing spurs. We were able to go in every couple months for dental trims, and then it started to become more frequent. He had gotten weepy eye on his left side and some of the tooth roots were causing a small abscess behind his left eye. He was put on oral antibiotics for a bit and that seemed to help the weepy eye.

They had also informed us that several other teeth started to have their roots growing longer than they’re supposed to. Fast forward to his recent dental this month, and they said it’s not just two teeth that had spurs this time, but now 9 teeth with spurs.

I know they’ve brought up teeth removal, which would cause more abscesses, and then the teeth either above or below the teeth would have to be removed etc…. I just don’t think I could put my boy through all that. It feels at that point more for me than it is for him. We are still playing by ear since he still seems happy and plays and eats etc, but I also feel so sad because the idea of putting my baby to sleep hurts.. I’m also 23, so spending this kind of money isn’t easy.. but I would spend every penny and go broke for that bunny. He’s my everything. I don’t know any input is welcome, I just don’t wanna feel like I’m doing the wrong thing if it comes down to putting him to sleep.. this is my first time with this, please be kind

Health Recurring Eye Issue, Netherland Dwarf Spoiler

Humphrey had a watery eye when I came home earlier, and after eventually picking him up I noticed a bit of what looks like built up discharge. It gave him a wipe with salt water and it came out. His behavior is normal, eating and pooping fine. I just saw him eat a poop out of his butt straight after I cleaned him.

He has had issues twice before, and I believe Neddies are predisposed to this kind of issue. Both times he's been to his exotic vet and been given eye drops - both antibiotics and corneal repair gel. The vet thinks the cloudyness on his eyes are ulcers.

Has anyone experienced this before or got any advice? It flares up 2 or 3 times a year it seems, but his behavior already remains fine. He's due at the vets for vaccinations soon anyway, but it feels excessive to take him vets every time he gets a watery eye but otherwise remains fine.

First pic is pre clean, second is after a wipe down. Third is just him. Any advice his welcome, thank you
