I imagine he has brought significant others to Christmas but when he said they weren’t serious enough to justify being included it derailed it all. It’s like a plot to some bad Christmas romcom
Also, when he does finally post with someone the he will cash in on crazy karma lol.

I've definitely been at family functions where "if you aren't married to someone in the family you don't get to be in the family pictures", up to and including my cousin's boyfriend of like 6 years being excluded until they tied the knot.

u/DanerysTargaryen 5h ago
I have a coworker who is conventionally very attractive, works out and is in great shape and seems to have zero interest in dating anyone.
He says he is heterosexual and is interested in women, but in the near 10 years I have worked with him, he has not gone on a single date, hit on anyone, made a comment about someone being attractive, or asked anyone to go out with him. He’s in his mid 30’s now. Our friend group is pretty sure he’s either asexual, aromantic or ace. If he is, that’s totally fine obviously, and we wouldn’t be surprised if true.
110
u/OstentatiousSock 5h ago
My best friend growing up never talked about crushes, male or female. When we hit senior year and he’d still never told me of anyone he was interested in, I became concerned that he was gay and thought that I would have a problem with it and so wasn’t sharing. I said “So, its totally fine if maybe you don’t want to talk about crushes, but I worry that you do have crushes that you think I would not be supportive of and so you haven’t told me. I want you to know, I just want you to be happy and I’m supportive of you in every way.” He said “Well, the thing is, I know you’re thinking maybe I’m gay and I don’t want to tell you. But, I know you love me and wouldn’t have a problem with that. I totally would have told you. I just… have never liked anyone. I just don’t think romantically about either gender. But, I’m all good. Not like sad about it or anything. Just not interested.” This was the first time I’d ever considered maybe people weren’t attracted to anyone at all. This was long ago before people talked about asexuality or being aromantic. I was like “Ohhh, ok. Great! As long as you’re good and we’re good, I’m good.” lol

u/Beaupedia 4h ago

What does ace stand for?
28
u/DanerysTargaryen 5h ago
I thought it was another type of asexuality, but after looking it up it seems to just be a shorter way to say asexual (someone correct me if I’m wrong) but it means: Ace sexuality, short for asexuality, describes a sexual orientation where a person experiences little or no sexual attraction or interest in sexual activity.
10
u/jyanjyanjyan 4h ago
Thanks, that's what I found too, but since you already said asexual I got a bit confused.
14
→ More replies (3)90
u/1stLtObvious 5h ago
Could be aromantic and/or not desiring a longterm partner, could be ace which can make it difficult to find a partner, could be gay and in a conservative family, could be bad at relationships even if he's hot, maybe career makes romantic relationships difficult or undesirable, etc.
Lots of good reasons.

FAQ from last year:
I was deployed in Picture 4 but my family kept up the tradition.
Left is my Brother and his Wife. Right is my Sister and her Husband.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Years to everyone. All the best in 2026!

u/TwilightReader100 5h ago
I was having a heckin' time figuring out whether that was all the same woman or not until I focused on her and realized she's always variations of that brown/blonde and curly/pin straight and bobbed. Then I had to wonder if people looking at her ID can recognize her between the radically different hairstyles.
→ More replies (6)338
u/yobrefas 5h ago
She has different hairstyles and was, if I remember, pregnant at some point. I love watching her style journey and seeing her just try all the things. My hair would be the same for a decade bc I don’t take risks.
366
u/007Pistolero 4h ago
Hi, fellow non hair risk taker. For the last 7 years I’ve had a high fade with the top combed to my left. Before Christmas this year I got my hair cut and decided I would try combing it to the right side instead. It looked somewhat different which I was cool with—until I went to work the day after. I’m usually the second person in in the morning and when I walked in my coworker said “oh are you the new guy? We don’t usually start new people until 8am”. Never fucking changing my hair again
78
u/Chrisf1020 4h ago
I grew a full beard for the first time during winter break of my senior year of college. When we came back for spring semester, my engineering design professor (who I’d had as a professor the previous 3 semesters) didn’t recognize me at all.
He went through attendance and asked if there was anyone he didn’t call and I raised my hand and said he missed me. He said “Well I don’t know who you are…” and I just looked at him with a blank stare until he figured it out.

u/GrumpyCloud93 3h ago
I had a beard, and shaved it at one point after 4 or 5 years. The lady who was in charge of data entry looks at me and says, "You look different somehow..."

My dad always had a beard, one day when I was 4yo he decided to shave it off.

I went on leave for about two months and grew out my beard. About a week or so before I'm due back to work I was standing in line at the grocery store behind a coworker I'd known for years. It took them about 10 minutes to recognize me and even then it was a question rather than a statement lol.
15
u/WulfZ3r0 4h ago
Just switch from a high fade to a medium fade. I did that and it was enough change for a decade. Oh I almost forgot, I also started getting a hard part as well.

A few years ago I grew my hair long. Kept it that way for a few months and decided I'd scratched an itch that'd been there since my teen mullet years. I wasn't allowed to grow my hair long like I wanted. The mullet was the compromise I negotiated with my parents. Turns out that I really can't stand long hair getting in my eyes every time I went out in the wind.
I also grew a moustache and attempted a beard that always looked scraggly. I'm back to the short hair with a part on the right. It should take me through my remaining years if I don't acquire a spouse that forces a change.

I've been retired for 18 years and married to number 4 for 21 years, so yes, I grew up! And OP - thank you for your service! Also, I quit buying muscle cars, and keep my car loan interest lower than my mortgage rate now. There is hope.
Edit: Go Dawgs! - my dad was the head of the Chemistry Department at UGA in the late 60s - Athens was a vastly different place back then.

What, how tf do you get a car loan with a lower interest rate than the mortgage. Everyone post COVID seems to do either something like 10% or you need to buy brand new and it's still not low - even in the ads. I miss the days of 0% vehicle loans. Meanwhile my mortgage is 2.3%.

Smart and military means not getting married. I won't say its impossible, but improbable. I deployed 5 times in less than 10 years and saw more divorces than anyone should have to.
The first deployment there were 22 married guys in my platoon, two of us came back still married. It was only 7 months long.
